Accused Impaired Driver Collides with San Antonio Police Officer

A San Antonio police officer was responding to a call with the cruiser lights and siren on when an allegedly intoxicated driver in a pickup truck failed to yield and crashed into the officer's SUV.

A suspected drunken driver is accused of colliding with a San Antonio police officer responding to a call over the weekend.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday on the city's northwest side, KENS-TV reports. According to KSAT-TV, a San Antonio police officer was responding to an emergency with the cruiser lights and sirens on when a 58-year-old driver in a pickup truck failed to yield and collided with the officer's SUV.

The officer was rushed to the hospital for evaluation and is expected to recover.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The incident is under investigation.
